Anyone ever curious as to the bizarre weather phenomena that strike Buies Creek, the seemingly endless stretch of highway that bridges Buies to modern civilization (i.e. Wal-Mart), the possibly near-sentient computer network whose stability seemed to target various halls at whim, or the brand-new yearbooks that manage to look 40+ years old upon receipt? Who knows what may have developed in my absence... Here, you can discuss the oddities unique to Campbell's geographic and, perhaps, metaphysical position in the universe.

I am a Buies Creek survivor.

And I remember everything.

God bubble, man. God bubble.

For the uninitiated, Justin is correct. The primary cause of pseudoscientific phenomena in Harnett County, specifically Buies Creek, is a psychosomatic manifestation called the God Bubble. Stemming from the peculiar brainwaves emitted by those miseducated in ecumenical history and dogma, God's natural influence is warped. Not always in a negative fashion, and not always in a spectacular one, the presence of something 'not quite right' seems to be prevalent over much of the campus.

A shocking example of physics being defied is present in the entrance to Shouse Dining Hall. The unique architecture of the building, combined with it's proximity to two long dormitories, causes a windtunnel of incredible proportions in approximately 12-15 cubic feet of space. This wind is powerful enough to injure students weighing less than 125 lbs, who are not compensatorily attired.

More to come.

That was a fun hurricane.

Again, Justin has reminded me of other odd manifestation of the GB. A hurricane maintaining enough force of wind and rain to make a three-day wasteland almost 120 miles inland.

Quelle strange, no?

This is some deep metaphysical explaination. I like the theory of the GB though.

Ya know, that kind of crap has really stopped since Wallace took over. That or I'm just old and out of touch with the young kids.

I mean, Fresh Prince is on Nick @ Nite and I remember when Campbell didn't have cable television. That's game over right there.

Roux, you freshies come sit around the camp fire with Zero and I, we'll tell you horror stories like "The Five Days of Chicken" @ shouse. Horrible I tell you, horrible.

Go for it Deadbolt...tell me about the days of chicken

Basically, this was how lunch was every day @ Shouse our Freshman year.

Monday - Chicken Nuggets
Tuesday - Chicken Sandwiches
Wednesday - Chicken Tenders
Thursday - Chicken Wings
Friday - Whatever chicken they had left

All of which were cooked in  some kind of oil I imagine was refined in the bowels of hell. I thought I had stomach cancer or something for the first two weeks of my freshman year. You guys have it good compared to what it was like when we first got here.

I'm also fairly certain there was a hallucinogenic in the nacho cheese. It was thick enough to spackle drywall, and salty enough to require 3-5 glasses of beverage per serving. Yet, somehow, Matt Leveridge never needed to refill his drink. It just stayed full, yet he was constantly drinking something.

Wow... that a lot of chicken!!

I bet you guys' blood was overloaded with iron for months.

lol man I remember the days of the chicken, but the chicken nuggets weren't that bad, load up one of the colorful plates and a huge bowl of bbq sauce look a like.

Still it's not as bad as when I noticed freshman year that the squirrel population dropped drastically and continued on a steady decline throughout the year only to re poppulate the 'food supply' during the winter and summer.

Then that lead to my theory of the multipule use mystery meat. Which is much like the 5 days of chicken except it was what we believed to be 'beef'.

Hamburgers
Nachos with chili
Chili
Lasanga
-not 5, but you get the point, and they all took place in the same week.

Oh God...the squirrels. I remember those little bastards running around with no fur on their tails. We had a theory that they were experimenting on them in the Pharmacy Research Institute...

Now I work there.

Refer to the thread on how old we all are for how THAT makes me feel.

lol damn I remember that too.

So any way to get in on some of the 'good' drug tests?

We don't do clinical trials (although we should). But hey, if I run across any drugs I think you'll be  interested in, I'll give you a shout.

awesome man sounds good. I always wondered/hoped you guys did those trials but I never knew quite what went on inside the building.

Not many do with it being card access only...not a whole lot goes on in there to be quite honest.

Yeah I remember exploring campus as a little freshman and seeing the card swipes and wondering what kind of research went down in there.

box of mice + bucket of brown recluse spiders= lots of stuff going on inside of the research building ;)

I bet the Science Building is rather interesting after hours. Not that I'd know or anything.

That's Jon's subtle way of claiming responsibility for breaking and entering. Ya know, fyi.

Hey, hey, hey... I broke nothing, I merely entered. Like sleeping with the town whore, someone else already propped the door open for you.

Don't whores usually make house calls?
