NO it is not the "typical women's Auto"-- it is definitely a 6-speed manual! ! !

and it stands for Double Pleasure because I am a twin

ANNNNND on the white celica i have a picture of wrecked my sister was driving and some idiot pulled out in front of her when it was wet outside and she could not do a thing but hit the brakes which was not enough and they hit... so yeah!

well technically we share our cars... so we BOTH "SHARE" the celica and a BMW 325i and we switch whenever we want but im really attached to the celica right now and we will prolly switch next semester because she goes to University of Miami

my parents bought it for us... why is that a problem because most parents buy their children their first car anyhow

Um, I never said it was a problem, and I didn't know that was true for most children. I bought my first car...and my second, third, fourth, fifth, and the upcoming sixth. Problem?

I bought my first and second car.

You are spoiled.

But, you're also a girl. Dad's tend to have the problem. It's from all the excess Estrogen hanging out around him.

I bought 1/2 of my current car. I was gonna get a used hand-me-down Altima if I kept my grades up, but it was totalled (not my fault)... so I used that money and my own to get a newer, USED car.

I wish my parents shelled out that kinda money on me.

just cause some people's parents buy them their cars makes them spoiled? I would say some ones spoiled if their parents bought them the car and then a house with a garage to put the car in.

^Hahah, I've never seen the dictionary definition of 'spoiled' that mentions a minimum amount of money or assets, dumbass.

Parent's buying you a car doesn't make you spoiled. My parents bought me my car because they wanted to be sure I was in a safe car that was still under warranty. By myself I would have never been able to afford a car under a warranty. Which in the long run was really good because when my Jetta exploded (not my fault) everything was covered and I was able to get a new car.

lol
"exploding jetta" is still funny to hear. only b/c no one was hurt.

you can definitly tell who was raised with money in here....

I dont see a problem with a parent helping their child buy a car...
as long as they are paying them back or at least working for it in some way.
But I dont think a 25-30k car is reasonable for a gift.
You have to earn that....
otherwise, you will never respect it.

Wednesday, February 23, 2005 1:54 AM

bondsgame101

ok,what is wrong with parents wanting to make sure that their children are driving around in a nice and safe car. A decent car now cant be bought for under 20k dollars now anyways. At least on with decent equipment, features, and size. And some parents refuse to let their kids pay them back. I am having that problem. My parents won't let me pay them back for college, my car, and basically everything else. It is rather annoying. Oh, by the way, nice car!

[Edited by bondsgame101 on 2/22/2005 4:39:56 PM. Reason for edit: .....]

Wednesday, February 23, 2005 2:39 AM

Dan3223

haha... I wish I had your problem.

And you can buy a nice and safe car for much less than 25-30k.
A civic or camry or something of that nature is a very safe and reliable car...

and I dont think I have ever considered a celica a "safe car".
especially a 6 spd GTS.
Those cars are made for speed.. not safety.

Wednesday, February 23, 2005 2:43 AM

SaSSyLoVe1

just because your parents bought you a car does NOT make you spoiled thank you! I think you are spoiled if you don't appreciate anything you have but i happen to appreciate every little things my parents do for me... i have the things i have because my family works hard (as im sure urs does)... they buy get me a car because i work hard in school, i am respectful, honest, and responsible. basically i am rewarded for my own hard work and there is nothing wrong with that. it is nice that some people are independent enough to afford their own car and that is good for you.You do not know me so you cannot call me spolied. give me a break! spoiled is when u are not appreciative and just ask for more.

Wednesday, February 23, 2005 2:45 AM

bondsgame101

Yeah, but the only problem with the civic and camry is that they are not exactly the biggest of cars, the camry more so than the civic, but still it is only a medium size car. And I really cant stand camry's right now, seeing as my aunt was just killed driving one. She got broadsided by a 91 cadillac broghum and never stood a chance. So it is only trucks for me from here on out. Oh, the celica is not an unsafe car either, rather underpowered depending on what version you get, the gt-s is pretty quick though.

Wednesday, February 23, 2005 2:51 AM

Dan3223

i'm sorry to hear about your aunt....

but do you even know what you are talking about???
A civic and camry are both just as big as a celica or 325i.

And if you get broadsided in any car (especially by a big ass cady) you dont stand much of a chance.

and if you think a larger car is safer,
then what about a taurus or solara or something.
Both are larger cars.... and not super expensive.

sorry dan but u do not know the safety features of the celica so you cannot say it is not safe... it is fast but when my sister was in an accident with it she was perfectly fine!
oh yeah and u have no idea how much i paid for my car so i dont think u should comment
i do respect it and i have respect whether i have a car or not!

as u can tell i am a lil protective over my celica... i think they are great quality cars!

Wednesday, February 23, 2005 3:01 AM

The base MSRP on the Celica GT-S is $22,335. That's before any bells and/or whistles.

There is an option for Driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags... did you get those?
What about ABS? that's an option too.

Wednesday, February 23, 2005 3:07 AM

Dan3223

I never said celica's didnt have safety features....

What I was saying is that they are a sporty car...
designed to be driven fast.
If I was driving a celica, I would drive it fast.
and the faster you drive... the less safe it is.

Keep in mind that I am not saying anything bad about celica's, nor am I calling you spoiled.
All I am saying is that it is not necessary for parents to buy their kids expensive ass cars.

Wednesday, February 23, 2005 3:08 AM

bondsgame101

Go back and read my post, I said for under 20k dollars. Granted the Camry is a decent size car, they are just too bland for me, and everyone and their mother owns one(random comment). I was just making the point that it is really really hard to find a decent, well-equipped car, that is not a compact, for under 20k.

Wednesday, February 23, 2005 3:10 AM

Dan3223

Both the Solara and Taurus are around 19-20k.
And that is for a brand new car.
You do not need to have a brand new car....
nor do you need all the fancy bells and whistles.

Wednesday, February 23, 2005 3:18 AM

SaSSyLoVe1

it really doesnt matter what the msrp is because those prices are always jacked up-- anyone who pays the sticker is crazy but my dad is a good haggler LOL
i do not have ABS because that is really expensive but they say that "ventillated disc brakes" and good too and that is what it came with.. i think it came with the air bags too

oh and i do agree it is not necessary to buy them expensive cars but it is their choice so whatever floats ur boat

everyone else... get over it

My car in college was a Ford Taurus SE. It was like a city bus driving it and i felt very safe. It has a "break away" engine that goes under the car in a headon collision instead of in your lap. And it's even sporty with a V-6 under the hood and a CD changer in the trunk!

I bought the car a year old for only $16,000 after T,T,T (tax, tag, and title). My mother paid for half and i paid for the other half. Within a year and a half i paid her back every cent and paid for my own insurance the whole time too.

Just an example as to how you can get a most excellent car for under $20K

ok so if your parents bought you a car you're spoiled?

so if they didn't buy you a car, they don't love you?
