i agree that it is not our place to pass judgment on someone. however that doesn't mean that we have to be supportive and encourage their mistakes.

I also agree it shouldn't be supported, but Kerry wasn't saying 'HEY GIRL JUST SPREAD YOUR LEGS WE'LL GET RID OF YOU BABIES!' While abortion should be tackled in a COMPLETELY different way, it shouldn't be outright banned. I didn't like either of the candidates, but Kerry had better moral issues, I believe. I really, really disagree with Bush's absinence initiatives and curbing out sexual education in public schools. That just creates such problems. Sexual education isn't supporting sex, but supporting intelligent sexual choices.
And as for gay marriages, I think the moral thing to do is give them the same rights as everyone else (not judging them) and to let the churches decide if they are to be married or not. I support civil unions. I'm undecided about marriage. Ideally, homosexuals should be allowed to marry..but that's too radical a change right now.

"however that doesn't mean that we have to be supportive and encourage their mistakes."
Explain to me who is encouraging and supporting their mistakes? Are you saying that just because Abortion is a viable option that we are encouraging people to have them? So what about contraceptives, thats an option too. Does that mean we are encouraging people to have sex because contraceptives are available. Im not following your logic here.....

Um, but isn't that what W is trying to do? By denying gays their civil liberty of marriage, you are absolutely passing judgment on them.

^^ HELLOOOOO Bush wants to ELIMINATE effective sexual education because he believes it ENCOURAGES sex. He advocates ABSTINENCE ONLY education and not CONTRACEPTIVE education. Therefore the use of contraceptives in the age group that needs it most isn't advocated. You'd be surprised at the amounts of ignorance there still is about contraceptives and STDs in high schools around the nation.
While I hate using sources that are heavily swayed to one side, this actually provides numbers and reputable sources:

No. http://www.mchb.hrsa.gov/programs/adolescents/abedguidetext.htm
They give grants to schools that provide abstinence only education. It's dealt with federally.
(Needless to say federal or state wide, BUSH is for this type of logic..and that's scary.)

"contraceptives encourage safe, responsible sex. abortions do not"
1. promote, advance, boost, further, encourage
I dont think abortions "encourage" or promote anything. Do you really believe that anyone who has an abortion was thinking "gee I guess I will have unsafe sex because I can always get an abortion?" Maybe some women do, but there is always going to be abuse in anything.
Likewise I dont think contraceptives alone "encourage" anything, they just allow people to have safe sex as opposed to unsafe sex. Now teaching children about contraceptives may encourage the use of them and might result in less abortions in the long run.
But in Bush's world we will teach abstinence, not contraceptives or safe sex and then make abortions illegal. Wont that be a happy place?

Because of Bush's policies and views... I am now going to obstain from having sex until I want to have children. I advise that all you people do the same.
