It is not faster than the XS. The Verados are fast but still take second place the XS. The only motor that was faster was the mercury 300 ProMax but they no longer make it.

The boat is a 36' Yellowfin. You can check them out at yellowfinyachts.com. Everybody who is in the fishing industry and racing industry knows the that opti's are faster.

I'm not saying you're boat isn't good and that your triple setup isn't sick. But I don't think that is the best engine in my opinion. Opinions can vary....

[Edited by SaNToRoGT on 9/6/2005 4:17:01 PM. Reason for edit: Also I didn't say the Verado was a better or faster motor....]

Call me crazy, but wouldnt hull design have more to do with the speed of the boat than the engine?

Monday, November 21, 2005 6:37 PM

Archibald

^Yes and no. Hull design has a lot to do with speed. But mainly hull design has to deal with ride of the boat. You can make any boat fast with certain motors but that doesnt mean you can run that fast if you cant take the pounding that you are getting. Yellowfins and Fountains are built to run fast and hard through some scary size waves and still get you back home. Foiuntains are faster but the Yellowfin has a better ride.

Edit- also engines have a lot to do with fuel economy. I am looking at selling this boat and getting another 36' Yellowfin wit hfour engines to improve my fuel economy.
