dude, that doesn't look like a bulldog that looks like a pit bull. big difference. completely different breed, still adorable! but it's not that great a pic, i may be wrong.

staffordshire terrior is a pit. they got the name pit from England when they used to fit the dogs in pits. Therefore you have a pit, well part pit. hehe. still adorable.

not trying to sound like a know-it-all, but a staffordshire terrier is only closely related to a pitbull...they have similar qualities because both are terriers...but they are not the same dog.

pit bull just really describes any of those 'vicious' dogs that they used to use in pit fights.
^^ and I think you were thinking of the english bulldog because it certainly looks like an american bulldog to me.

a "pit bull" doesn't actually exsist. it is a knickname given to those dogs that were fought. and you are right that it was more than just one breed. but a lot of people get them mixed up. staffordshire terrior is what is more commonly known today as a pit bull. bull terriors are the spud mckenzie "Budweiser" dog if anyone remembers him. All are known as "bully breeds" lol...whatever the case they are all adorable dogs and great pets

$1200 later...they are expensive. my pup was 150 just because she was an accident they deidn't mean to breed. but i got lucky.

i think the amount of hostility just depends on the breed AND how you raise it...mine is the sweetest thing ever, wouldn't hurt a fly but my roommate has a pit and it is one mean and rough dog.
mine was only $15 for my bf, who got it for me for xmas...not a bad deal, huh?

^ oh yeah, I definitely fall on the nurture side of the fence when it comes to dogs being nice or mean.
^^ I know someone who's got family that breeds bullies and rotties- two types of dog I would consider, so I'm in luck if I ever get one.

Definitely an American Bulldog, i can be assured of that -- ill put an update picture up soon of him now!! No matter what the dog, it really depends on how you raise him and treat him. My dog is such a sweet heart, a gi-normous baby pretty much. Garrett just gets the full force of his puppy excitement. lol
p.s. - Katie, your dog is adorable!
