Dunnellon...horse country...about two hours north of here. It's not a bad drive at all and totally worth it to get away from Tampa for the day.

It looks beautiful. I've been hearing about Florida's springs and wanted to go, but didn't know of any. Was it very crowded?

Yeah, the springs are awesome. I've been to probably a dozen of them around central and north-central Florida. Some of the best are near Orlando. There are also a bunch near Gainesville. It was kind of crowded today but still enjoyable. You can swim, canoe, grill and walk nature trails at most of them. The FL Dept of Parks and Rec has a website listing them all by region.

Cara, this looks really fun. I love to go camping to hike, swim, swing from trees, go stalking in the woods, and snorkel. Have you been to Alexander springs? Did you snorkel on this trip?

For Kat: I'm most familiar with the springs near Orlando because I grew up on the East coast. I HIGHLY recommend Rock Springs for tubing and camping. We went there for spring break last year. It's an Orange County park (listed as Kelly Park).

Joss: Yes, I have been to Alexander. I enjoy the swimming there because the water get's progressively deeper. The canoe run is also nice at Alexander. Oh and we didn't snorkel but there were fish and it would have been fun to see them with goggles and a snorkel.

I definitely want to make more trips this summer, so if anyone wants to go we should. I wanted to get some more people to come on this trip but it was kind of planned at the last minute.
