Not a bad looking boat! Surprised I havent seen any of these in the tournaments. Seems like it wouldnt be too bad of a bad to fish fro mcompoared to others of note. To make it a better boat for fishing I would have a wider beam and get rid of that front cabin. OVerall not too bad probably pretty quick but the ride might be questioanble and it loses one point for not being a stepped hull. Overall it gets a 8 out of 10.

Its stepped ya just can't see it, got to ride in it yesterday hit 68 full up with 400 gallons of fuel. Its got a pair of 440 Yanmars tweaked up to around 500hp, driving twin Arneson surface drives. At Crusing speed, 60mph, it gets 3miles to the gallon. The cabin makes fishing a bit harder, but he built it to take the wife and kids out in first, and fish in second. You haven't seen any at the tournaments, because that boat is #1 out of the mold.

Thanks very much for the report on the boat. I am sure with quads out boards or trips this boat can be a lot faster, but it won't have any where near the same fuel economy. Some people like the cabin so people dont. I dont they just seem to get in the way and are hardly every used. Most people who get them end up using them for storage more than anything else. Thanks for the report. If I knew about this and hadn't jsut blown a lower unit I would have definitely been out there. Hopefully Mercury Racing will cover my lower unit if not there goes $4500 out the door.

Sucks about the lower unit, gonna be a bitch if ya have to pay for it. Forgot to mention, owner was sayin that he hit 73mph in a 20kt headwind when they were testing the boat down in Ft. Meyers.

Yeah it def looks like it has potential to be a pretty good boat with speed. Those engine must weigh a ton by how low his rear is sitting in the water. A couple footers could come rolling by and over the side. Do you by any chance know the beam of this boat?

Beam's only 9' which is pretty narrow for a fishing boat, guess thats the problem you run into when converting a race boat into a fishing boat. Whats your Yellowfin top out at?

My Yellowfin tops out at 65mph fully loaded for a tournament. Thats 545 gallons of gas, 5 large people, fishing gear, and ice. With jack plates and low water pick ups I could get up to 70 but I will wait for the next boat to get those. If I do get the boat with quads the top end with 4 Mercury 250XS optimax's with jack plates and low water pick ups the top end will high 80's-low 90's fully loaded.

Edit- ^I know what yo umean about race boats turned inot fishing boats. Wylie(owner of Yellowfin) says he started the company to build fishing boats into racing boats not the otherr way around. He started his carrer off by offshore powerboat racing building his boats and racing them. He got bored fo doing that and decided to start building fishing boats.

Sounds like she runs pretty strong. What kinda OB's you gonna be running if you go quads?

I am thinking about getting the same ones I have now. The mercury 250 optimax xs. Four stroke motors are not completely out of questions like the Suzuki 250 four stroke or the 275 verado by merc.

Stick with the mercs, seems like the Verado has been sellin pretty well. Seen alot of them on the gofast fish boats.

You are right I will probabyl stick with the mercs. The only problem with the verado is that they are slow. For a 275hp power motor they are jsut sluggish at times. The whole not burning oil thing would be preety cool and save a little bit of money on. Speaking of oil anyone need some empty 55gallon steel drums?

Thats where the diesels come into play, better fuel economy with monster torque. The wheels on that Nor-Tech were 18" diameter 6blade props.

Yeah diesels do have their place sometimes. I was gonna ask if he was turning sixes. Most eningine of that size I have seen turning sixes mainly Trevco's.

Yeah I forget who made them, he did mention they were $8500 a prop, definitely don't want to run aground with those out back.
