back in parris island, if a recruit had his fucking belt crooked, the DIs and i would make him eat it. he would take off his belt, curl it up in a nice ball, put it in a bowl, poor water on it, and eat it. if he was a REALLY rebellious recruit (ie: took a dump like more than 0 times a day...his boots didn't look like a mirror...etc etc you get the idea), we strapped a silloutte to his head like a pope hat and made him run through the rifle range naked screaming "i'm a little teapot." i remember we got this one recruit--i still remember his name--private twinkles...every single morning, the bastard would always be tardy at the morning call. so one day, over a couple of beers with the other DIs, we came up with an idea to fix the problem. and fix it we did. we snuck into the barracks at lights out after pistol-whipping the lookout, we went right over to private twinkles barrack and cut off his ears. then we brought him outside and jammed hoses into the gaping holes and turned them on full blast. well, needless to say, his ears got clean hahaha. MPs approached us a few minutes later and asked what we were doing, but when they saw the brilliance of our solution, the laughed so hard their little helmets fell off! it was great. eventually private twinkles bled out and became unsat, so we tossed him into the "gruel tank" (where the slop is made for mess hall haha). it's a running joke now with me and the other DIs to make sure you finish eating all your twinkles hahaha. why do you think we don't let our recruits look at their meals? man, those were the good ol days...

i agree about the uniform thing

a friend of a friend went into the marines with a USMC tattoo he had gotten the weekend before...

jesus christ don't ever do that. they were making him scrub it off with a wire brush. (he didn't scrub it off, but they wanted to get the pont across)

Speaking as a former Marine Officer Candidate, knowing current Marine Officers, and being a Navy Officer myself; don't wear the uniform.

This also goes for those of you who think it's cute to be a sailor or anything of the sort for halloween. The rediculous costumes are fine... but the ones that actually resemble the uniforms, just don't do it. Quite disgraceful.

I agree with you both. If you didn't earn the right to wear the uniform, then do not wear it. There are Marines over there who live by that uniform and they are dying for this country. Have a little bit of respect.

I'm going to have to say something to on this matter. The Marine Corps Dress Blues Uniform is one that demands respect; it is worn by the finest fighting force in the world. Yes just like the others have said, these fine young men are on the ground all around the world for all of us to live life they way we want to. You can make fun of whatever you want but as a Marine Corps Sergeant myself; I have to ask you to refrain from disgracing not only a Uniform that I have earned not only on Paris Island but also on the field of Battle, but also all of the men and women that wear it.

Is it OK if I wear a white doctor's jacket? or how about bucs uniform? I definitely didn't earn either of those...Haven't gone to med school, and I'm still a free agent. Any problems with that, Officer?

Saturday, April 23, 2005 4:40 PM

millerlight21

non at all... they dont usually die for their country

Saturday, April 23, 2005 6:03 PM

Brugger

White coats (white doctor’s jacket) are worn by all sorts of individuals (both long and short white coats): Respiratory Technicians, Physician Assistants, Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, Nurses, Doctors of Allopathic Medicine, Residents, Medical Students, Respiratory Students, Radiation Technicians, Researches, Laboratory Technicians, etc. Some have their doctorates, others don’t.

The white coat is really more a symbol for the entire medical community and even then, not all the individuals wear their white coats. If you want to wear one, go ahead. But then someone is going to ask you about something medically related and your charade will be revealed.

The Bucs are funded by the fans. They encourage you to wear their uniform because that is money in their pocket.

Marines (and all of the armed forces) are an elite group who earn(ed) their dress uniforms and are very distinct from others. Camouflage and surplus material such as sea bags, are more commonly distributed to civilians. Have at it. Just know that you might get the “Were you in the armed forces?” question. Nevertheless, you have a chevron on your sleeve and a service ribbon… That’s saying that you have earned such a rank and clearly you have not.

oohh..didnt know that..!!!

marines do die for this country...people who serve in the army die for the country...people in the air force lose their lives too...the uniform isnt what matters...its the country...
again..not trying to sound right or anything..but i'm just giving you my opinion just like you have...

and yes i do agree that respect should be given to those who have lost their lives and to those who serve on the frontlines of battle...i just think that you all are blowing this uniform thing up more than it should be...

I agree with having respect for the uniform and what it represents....

But I dont understand the rivalries between the branches of the military.
All branches serve and protect our country...
so why would you refer to the Army as "stinkin Army"?

Sunday, April 24, 2005 4:48 PM

millerlight21

its a quote.... and theirs not really a rivalry between the different branches... we just give each other a hard time. and sam.. yes we all die for our country, but we also die for our uniform.. as does the army, air force, and navy. its just a Marine will make sure u know it... becuase he went through a bucket of shit to become one.. not saying any other force dosent earn their uniform.. they do! however... Marines tend to be more addiment about it.

This thread is a fucking joke. If you join the armed forces, it should be because of a genuine love of country (not clothes), a respect for its laws (not clothes) and the principles those laws (not clothes) are founded on and uphold. Get a fucking life you military elitists. This is the United States, and I'll wear a god damn military uniform if I want. If you have a problem, take it up with the constitution of the United States of America; you know, that piece of paper, not fucking clothing, you signed your life away to protect. Coincidently, it centers around the importance of Freedom of Expression. I'm in awe of this thread; how has it accumulated this many responses?! Fucking twits...

/Rant.

look... i understand what ur sayin.. but just think of it this way... it may be hard to understand but just think of the most prized possession you have. something that u worked your ass off to get. not somethin u bought like ur car or something. but something that really means the world to you. say like a state championship in wresteling or something. something that you pride yourself with. now say i just came outa nowhere and clamed to be state champ, or something to that extent. would u not be not at the slightest upset that i can clame the same thing that you can. yet i did nothing for it. I truthfully dont care about the cloths of the services. like you said i signed up to protect this country. but i do care when someone 1) dresses up as acts like he has earned it.. (if it was halloween, then i wouldnt give a fuck. i mean seriously i would understand) but if u just post a pic ans say marine yea what now... 2) make something that people have spilled their blood for, look like ass... hense the loose ass belt, hair cut etc.

All i say is if anything respect it... and respect all that wear it... nacho and anyone else.. i have no personal oppinion of you.. for all i know ur a cool person... but i have a very LARGE oppinion about any military uniform... especially that one

Monday, April 25, 2005 7:44 AM

LuigiScar7

Firstly, I realize Marine Basic can be intense, but your likening it to a state championship is off base. Over 60% of Marine Recruits make it through basic training. There is effort involved, obviously, but it doesn't carry nearly as much exclusivity as being a State Champion in a major sport.

Secondly, I have absolutely no respect for the uniform a soldier wears; it's simply a mechanism used to establish rank, and to help identification of un/friendly soldiers during battle. I have respect, or lack thereof, for the soldier which is a much better system.

My beef with this thread: You're choosing to fight for a country granting us freedom of expression, and then limiting that freedom. It's fucking hypocritical and there's no denying that.
