we used to get drunk and bored and go climb the radio towers near our ranch. I think one of them was about 500 ft.

probably not the smartest thing, but a lot of fun...my cousin even took a piss off of the top. It's really cool up there, you can see the whole coast line. It's definitely worth the view, the worst part though is the next day, going up a 500 foot ladder that is completely vertical makes you feel like you did 100 pull ups.

^^ yeah no shit lol. I did this ropes course in Taupo and you pretty much had to climb straight up pegged poles to do anything. I probably only had to climb straight up about 200 feet total, but I was pooped anyway.
I'm not looking to scale anything drunk tho. Seen too many close calls on float trips and what not.

you COULD always clip in...but that takes too much time and you need two clips and leaders, plus a harness....I think that there are stops every 20 feet
