Does that cone mark where the ice is thin?

Friday, May 7, 2004 5:31 PM

Sk8aBull

occasionally we use a cone to mark off a part of the ice that has blood on it or is chipped deeply or whatever... but this picture was taken during a public session, where four cones block off a rectangle in the center of the rink and the skaters skate in a circle around them. The center of the rink (blocked off by the cones) is for figure skaters or whatnot to spin and such. That cone is just one corner of the rectangle.

I don't compete anymore, but I still skate for fun. I REALLY miss competing though.

Hey now! A lot changes in 6 months. Screw figure skating, hockey is where it's at. The only thing is that I never realized I had a temper before haha

^ hockey may be "where it's at" for you- to each one's own. Everyone has their talents. You're better at hockey and that's okay. But you know that skating isn't just for "gays and barbies", you say that as if falling into one of those catagories is a bad thing. Every sport has its share of gays and barbies, stace, and there is nothing wrong with that. Generalizations like that are stupid. It's a difficult sport and not everyone can hack it.

Kristin I'm only kidding. Figure skating is such an incredibly hard sport. A lot of people who try it fail miserably. One of them being me. I got nowhere and burnt out after 11 years. I'm just a little jealous that I didn't get better then I did. You know how hard it was for me. You saw me struggling out there and leave the ice miserable and crying most freestyle sessions. You're just one of the lucky ones who can succeed at it and loves it. I just want to gain respect as a hockey player. It's especially hard being a female. But I'm just kidding when I saw it's for gays and barbie dolls. I was one of them too, remember.
