^ Then you obviously have the ability to appreciate good music. Do you think this was the best of the year? Overall, I think this was a fairly poor year for music.

thats funny as fuck. i just today realized this was the only album that i liked this year and thus named it album of the year in my ever important yearly journal wrapup. le scene.

^That's awesome. Can you believe Pitchfork gave it less than a 7? Well.. I guess I can. In many cases their ratings seem to have nothing to do with the sound of the album, they just have an agenda to keep up.

^^Well then you both should tell us what you think is the best album of the year... if you're going to hate on Rilo Kiley that's one thing, but failure to follow the instructions makes it even worse. Ivyspice... have you ever even listened to Rilo Kiley? lol.

i was populating my list, and i came up with thrice - the artist in the ambulance, death cab - transatlanticism, the futureheads, the faint - wet from birth (only other acceptable answer for a better album), tv on the radio - desperate youth, bloodthirsty babies, and led zeppelin - physical graffiti.

then i realized that most of those didnt come out this year. especially physical graffiti.

TV on The Radio... good stuff. I saw them at the Orpheum but the show wasn't great due to bad sound quality. Ever wonder why they try to blast the speakers at the Orpheum when the place only fits like 25 people? I'm sure the stacks would be sufficient but.. oh well. ...And I'm still waiting for our Rilo Kiley critics to name a better album from 04'. I'm guessing they haven't even listened to much Rilo Kiley.. if any at all.

i love rilo kiley. le sigh.

i do believe i agree with this sentiment of their album being the best this year. though i think it may have some competition from want two by rufus wainwright. <3

The Marc

^Thank you for your submission.. that's all I'm asking for.. an educated response and well supported arguments for albums other than More Adventurous. The Rufus Wainwright album certainly deserves to be mentioned among the best of the year. You're right though, still isn't quite on the level of More Adventurous.

Better? How about Sum41 - Chuck and HIM - And Love Said No. Those are my picks.

You truly believe that Chuck is a better album than More Adventurous? Of course you do, you've never heard More Adventurous.

Saturday, January 1, 2005 8:28 AM

timeconsumerx

well... the execution of all things was a better album than more adventurous. and i can think of about a dozen albums that came out in 2003 that were better than more adventurous. but MA wins due to sheer lack of competition.

Saturday, January 1, 2005 8:30 AM

The Marc

^ I can agree with that... like I said, 04' was a poor year for music. However, MA is such a good album, I don't wish to take anything away from it.

...Actually, which is the better RK album is highly debatable.
