Damn, I had one that bad playing softball back in early March. It is still really sore and hard to run on! Get some physical therapy if you can.

Correction, a sprain can look like that.
I would still get some radiography done though. You could also have possible ligament damage and whatnot.
Do the RICE. Rest, Ice, Compress, and Elevate. I wouldn't do heat just yet.
Ibuprofen (Motrin) to bring down the swelling a little as well. Go see the doc for some 800mg.
Ecchymosis won't kill ya, but it sure will make the ladies look away.

Yeah, that looks painful.
I had one that looked kinda like that when I sprained it playing basketball. It wasn't that pretty though
Good luck with that! Yeah, do the RICE thing.

Damn that sucks I know your pain. I have broken my right ankle once and my left ankle once. I sprained my right ankle and sprained my right foot all at different times. But I still love football with all my heart. I also have a permanantly broke finger thanks to football, who says you don't get hurt playing quarterback.

For those of you who were interested, I did see the doctor who said 2nd degree sprain. Got it X-Rayed and there was no bone damage either broken or fractured. Hopefully I will be back playing in 2-4 weeks.

Last night while I was in the hospital some guy had sprained his ankle. They gave him these sedatives and popped it back into place right in his room. *shudder*
