lol forget the 53 sec second lap, i'd like to see the 50 sec 400. haha just messin. what were your times in high school?

what do your 400 guys look like this year?? I heard you lost a couple.

lol we don't have any 400 runners but we do have 2 400 hurdlers, me and another guy. I'm gonna run a couple 400's this year just to break the school record(47.94...extremely slow for a college record).

Cause of title IX our school only has 20 men's roster spots which is made up of mostly xc guys, and field events. Hopefully next year we'll have a normal size team cause of our move into the big east.

i doubt we'll get an additional 5 roster spots. i hope so though, we need another 400 runner so we can break the 4x400 record(3:10.38).

Honestly, I should of been on the team a few years ago. Thiel has been after me since I was a senior in high school, but I messed up my grades BAD my first semester. Last fall he gave me a spot on the CC team but I ended up being short of credits, which was HEARTBREAKING to say the least. My credits and grades are fine now, but I havent been running enough, and I dont want to go out there and embarress myself. I just need to pick up the mileage a bit and I think I will be fine.

He wanted me to run the 800 and the mile in track. In high school I ran the 400 in 49 seconds, and only had an "official" time of 1:58 in the 800, but that was after I had pulled my hamstring and was out a couple weeks. I also hadn't had ANY experience running in big races because our coach never put us in any of the big meets so my last two races (regional and state meet) in high school I ran 1:58's without breaking a sweat and got stuck WAY in the back inbetween abunch of slow people in both of the races. Unofficially, I ran a 1:55, but it doesnt count for anything since its not documented.

How did you do in highschool?

well i didn't run till my senior year in high school cause i played baseball. my coach let my run track as well to try and help the track team win a state championship,we were unsuccessful i was able to run 49's and win a state championship in the 300 hurdles(38.6) without one day of track practice...this was up in maryland, there's no way in hell i could have accomplished this in florida. but yea you should start training now, i know 3 weeks isn't much time but hey it's worth a shot.

shit, tryouts are in 3 weeks? Thats indoor season right? what about for spring outdoors?

Friday, October 8, 2004 12:26 AM

ptmUSFtrackstar

lol tryouts for outdoor track man...we don't have a men's indoor team

Friday, October 8, 2004 3:20 AM

lol, well I always wondered how that worked since we dont have an indoor track...

That guy looks like a spidery-alien. Those black goggles don't help any, either.

Friday, October 8, 2004 1:54 PM

Eh... I think he is pretty hardcore considering he is as fast as he is... 44 second 400 is quite a feat...

Friday, October 8, 2004 2:11 PM

Yes, he is out of this world.

sun glasses, not goggles. didn't you know that glasses drop your 400 time by at least a second?

Saturday, October 9, 2004 11:05 AM

Purerunner

i always wore sunglasses for the half mile, even if it was a night race... lol i think it intimidated the other runners at the start line.

Saturday, October 9, 2004 11:38 AM

TrackStar

Hmmm... Untill i saw this photo, I never thought about wearing sun glasses during a race, I just dont need to be worried about them jumpen up and down on my face or flying off. Never tried it though...

ptmUSFtrackstar

if they fit right you wont have that problem. glasses are good if you wear contacts, especially if its windy. your eyes will dry out and you wont be able to see shit

Tuesday, October 12, 2004 8:36 AM

TrackStar

I wear contacts in every race, but I have never had a problem with my eyes drying up. Only time I have a problem with that is if I am indoors and theres a fan blowing on my eyes.

Besides, some races can get pretty physical, and I know I would end up stompen some kid if he knocked off some 160$ oakleys that I bought to race in...
