My target from the M-16 range last semester. Shot 36/40 that day, not to bad.

Not bad, mang. Them black rifles are pretty handy for hitting targets that are way out there. Now: will it be effective out there? THAT'S the question... =)

Something is wrong in this picture. You can hit 3/4 from 300m, but only 2/4 at 50m?

you are timed, and have to hit each target a total of 4 times, so 40 shots. 20 of which were taken in the prone supported position (layin down with sandbags), and 20 in prone unsupported(layin down w/o sandbags). I started at the top targets and worked my way down, and got a little tired at the end.

i love how they hang that at 25m, and the "smaller" targets symbolize targets that are further away.
w00t @ optical illusions.
the minimum score is 30/40, right?

I can understand not being able to get 23/40 out of the gate, but fuck: after working on it for a few weeks during basic, you should be able to do it.
target aquisition, breathe in, sight alignment, breathe out, hold, squeeze trigger, follow-through.

How accurate are the rifles they give you guys to shoot? I was wondering if there was any accuracy standard for them. I would assume there would be, even if you were only shooting them at 25 meters. Some rifles just get the crap beat out of them after a while.
Or do you just use the one you are issued?

yeah, the little target under the big one was used to zero the weapon, that is, make adjustments to it so you have no excuses for shitty shooting

I assume that they're pretty damn accurate for a standard M16A2. The military usually gets on their grunts to keep their weapons clean and in good functioning order (those 2 things being the main cause of the *weapon* being inaccurate). After a good zero'ing, though, it's the grunt's fault if he/she can't hit shit.
I need to get one of these targets, and try it out at 25m. Wonder how well I'd do...
