AUDITION CAMP INFO

Welcome and thanks for your interest in the University of South Florida HOT percussion program.

We look forward to having you in the section. It takes commitment, dedication, spirit and a willingness to be receptive towards new philosophies and techniques. You will enjoy your time here and your efforts will be rewarded with the experience of a lifetime.

Our first audition camp for the drumline will be Saturday, May 1st, 2004 from 9am to 5 pm. Report time is 8am (for registration. This is an opportunity for our staff evaluate new talent, begin the fundamentals program, and to start to teach the repertoire for next season. Your attendance is encouraged, as there is much to learn.

Audition packets will be handed out at registration. Please come prepared with a 1-inch binder with sheet protectors so that you will be able to set up your technique manual and be organized from the start.

there will be no cuts made at the first camp. you will have an opportunity to earn your spot over 3 one-day camps; 1 each month throughout the summer. the line will be set at our 3 day drumline camp in August. it is structured this way so that you can come into the situation stress free -- i want you to be able to perform at your best -- and then you can show me what your work ethic is every time I see you come back. This philosophy has really worked well for the group in the past, so please don't worry about your current level; you will definitely grow and improve throughout the series of camps. Just brush up on your fundamental strokes and reading skills for now.

The camp will be held at the LIF (life sciences) building. It is easy to find. Take Fowler Ave to the USF main entrance, turn into the campus, make a left on Alumni (the traffic light), go 1/4 mile to Laurel, make a right, and drive into the parking lot on the right. You will see the LIF building to the north of the parking lot.

Please continue to check the site http://band.arts.usf.edu/drumline.htm for updates and more information, or contact me, Ron Lambert (caption head) at RonLambPlays@aol.com.
