What does being a science major have to do with anything?
I was an engineering major and switched to architecture. I'm a devout atheist who enjoys making fun of superstitious people. The darwin fish fully embodies my belief in evolution and sarcastic nature towards religion.

evolution in general does not have anything to do with religion...evolution/adaptation is an obvious part of science, even the Pope has accepted evolution. So...

i gave up the whole "down with religion" thing because i believe its good for society in moderation, but i could never, ever bring myself to believe in a god. i had my share of major arguments but its not even worth it.
also its funny that i totally blanked out on the darwin essay on the AP bio test and still got a 3. lmao.

^^So.. there's a difference between macro evolution and micro evolution. Do you know which one Christians believe? Do you know exactly what the pope believes when it comes to evolution?
I tend to laugh at people that say things like:
{quote]I'm a devout atheist who enjoys making fun of superstitious people. The darwin fish fully embodies my belief in evolution and sarcastic nature towards religion.©
Guess it's ok to accept evolutionary theories, but belief in a creator/intelligent design is absurd because it hasn't been "proven"...
I'm finding that a lot of people can't handle themselves in a serious debate about these things, and that they're basically promoting these "beliefs" because they find it fashionable. Not unlike celebrities and their "belief" in scientology.
Sad that people with these beliefs don't realize how similar they are to people with religious beliefs. ..But if it makes them feel cool then more power to them.

technically, if you believe in evolution you are going on other men's work and therefore believing it as so; kinda like religion. How do you know that the stars in the sky at night are indeed stars and not lights created by man? have you been to outer space? have you seen one of these "stars" up close? Science is religion as much as christianity is a religion. Catholicism is a cult.

Religion is a tool that people use to differentiate themselves from others and to feel better than everyone else. Religion is used to mock others that are not in the same religion. Religion implements what people are supposed to say to others that are not like minded. Religion is a tool that people use out of fear. Overall, religion uses fear towards people to accept whatever they are "selling." There are hundreds of religions that exist and no one can state that any of them are correct. I find it extremely hard to believe that there is a "supernatural creator" of the universe that made everything. This omniscient, omnipotent, and omniprescent creator would know everything that would happen. Thus, why create a world knowing that original sin would occur and then send everyone to damnation for such a sin. He knew this would happen but yet would punish us for it.
As far as what guitarplayer is aiming at, he is trying to establish the antithesis to the tradional creation vs. evolution concept.
As far as the roman church accepting evolution, it is a modified version of the Darwinian portion and only accepts bits and pieces. The basis on with the church is that the 6 days that the Bible states could not have been a literal six days. Eg..1 day equalling 1 billion years.
Proven or not, its all based on the words of men. Who wrote the Bible? men did and no one else. Divine inspiration is stated to be the primary contribution; however, it was man to decide which books of the Bible are divinely inspired. It was all a guessing game.

I agree with most everything of what you said Brian, except for the part about Catholicism being a cult. But, to each is own.
Also, the last time me and Osama hung out he told me that if you get some stupid ass-tatoo of what a yuppy kid would PROBABLY put on the back of their Volvo then you've let the terrorists win.
